Would a man like this be considered a player? And do you think he could change?

OK. So, basically this guy is not the most attractive fella in the world, right? His personality is somewhat on the good side, although one of his closer friends told me this guy does not know how to treat women right. People have told me he's a player...but aren't players usually good looking and have women falling all over him? And don't they usually have multiple relationships going on at once? Because this guy didn't when I got together with him (we were dating, I was hoping for a relationship, he apparently never was, so we never were in anything defined), yet I still feel like he played me. (Oh, I found this out later too, he liked to get himself hookers on occasion, ew.) I mean, how can a guy who hardly ever gets "free" female attention throw away genuine female attention when he finally gets it (aka me)? He did tell me up front that he's a man...whatever that means, and how, I do not know, cuz women are generally repulsed by him...unless he was referring to the hookers. Anyways, he treated me wrong, & I haven't talked to him for 6 months. But just last night I discovered he's in a relationship...? I just don't get it, and it hurts somewhat, cuz I wanted a relationship w/ him, but nooo, he was a "man" then, and now 6 months later he's in a relationship? I mean, can a guy who's been "playing the game" and a "man" for years change that much in such a short time? I mean, kudos to his gf if he did...but yeah...a little hurt right now (even tho we were from 6 mos ago--I still miss him from time to time tho =(
