Ladies, any experiences with mooncup or similar?

Having used tampons for 12+ years, I'm thinking of switching to the mooncup / divacup. Any experiences / advice? How easy was it to deal with to begin with? Is there a risk of leakage - would you advise wearing a pad with it just in case? Is it easy to deal with in a public toilet? Any pain? Thanks for any pointers!
